Pediatric Eye Care

Dr. Steckenrider received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology/Pre-Medicine from Taylor University in Indiana. She first became interested in the eye care profession during this time, while completing a semester-long medical practicum in Cuenca, Ecuador. It was there she discovered a love of optometry after seeing the vast need for vision care worldwide and the difference an eye exam can make in a person’s life.

Originally from Peru, Indiana, she and her husband, Josiah, moved to the Hudson Valley in June 2020 when he became an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at West Point. When Dr. Steckenrider is not caring for patients at Southern Dutchess Eye Care, she enjoys painting, golfing, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and cat.

Pediatric Eye Care

“From the front desk to the tech to Dr.Steckenrider and to picking glasses- the entire process is warm, friendly, thorough and safe. Covid protocols were strong and effortless. Dr. S was so thorough in making sure everything in my eyes was ok. Previously I had seen a Dr. in this office that had retired. The front desk was great at pairing me with Dr. S and she did not disappoint.”
