At Southern Dutchess Eye Care, we offer traditional replacement lenses, daily disposable lenses, and 30-day continuous wear contact lenses – all competitively priced and available for direct shipment to your home or office.
Daily Disposable Contacts
With daily disposable contact lenses, you simply put in a clean, sterile pair of lenses in the morning, and then, throw them away before bedtime. By replacing your contact lenses each day, as prescribed, there is little chance for long-term build up of dirt deposits, which can affect vision and cause irritation and discomfort to the eye. You never have to worry about losing or tearing one, because there’s always an extra lens within easy reach. Additionally, there’s no need to buy solutions or carry bulky bottles while traveling.
Custom Contact Fittings
Custom Contact Lens Design: Our computer generated images of the cornea create a lens design- that nearly mirrors the cornea allowing the most precise and comfortable fit available. The lenses align precisely with the central and peripheral cornea, much like a well-fitted glove, leading to better vision and a more comfortable lens. At SDEC we utilize this technology for the “hard to fit patients”, including those with keratoconus or who have previously had corneal transplants. For video of our Wave design fitting click here.
Online Contact Lens Ordering: Some patients assume that ordering contacts online will save them money, be more convenient, and faster. Most of our contact lenses are offered at prices comparable with online warehouses and can be shipped directly to the patient or picked up for free at our office in one to two business days. Patients have the convenience of ordering lenses with a simple phone call or can order online through our website 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Understanding Your Contact Lens Care & Professional Fees
What are contact lens professional fees for?
As a contact lens wearer additional tests are done for you thats are necessary to make sure your eyes are healthy, that your lenses fit properly, and to ensure you are seeing as well as possible. Contact lens professional fees are for the extra testing and time taken by the staff and doctor each year to properly evaluate your lenses. Patients who do not wear contact lenses do not undergo these extra tests.
What types of additional tests are needed?
Corneal topography is one example of a test done for contact lens wearers. It provides a precise, computerized map of your corneal surface and is useful for detecting any undesirable changes of the cornea caused by wearing contact lenses. A second test uses a microscope to examine the fit of the contact lens and the health of the cornea. Thirdly, prescription measurements are done that are different than those for glasses.

A specialized microscope called a slit lamp is used to examine the fit of your lenses and to detect any changes to your corneal health.

Corneal topography is used to identify any undesirable changes to the curvature and surface area of your cornea as a result of contact lens wear.

An autorefraction is performed to verify or update your prescription measurements for contact lenses.
A professional fee for an annual contact lens evaluation is based on the type of lenses you wear, and is in addition to your routine exam fee. If you should require, or would like, to be fitted with a contact lens that is different than what you are currently wearing, a professional fee is charged for the re-fitting process. The amount of this fee is determined by the complexity of the lens type and specialized knowledge needed by your eye doctor to fit the lens.
Does my insurance cover contact lens professional fees?
Contact lens services are separate procedures that often are not covered by insurance, since contact lens wear is considered a cosmetic or “optional” enhancement to your vision.
