Corneal Refractive Therapy
Corneal Refractive Therapy Now you can be free of daytime contacts and glasses during your daily activities with Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT). Unlike conventional contact lenses that are inserted in the morning and taken out at night, CRT lenses are removed in the morning and your vision remains corrected for the day.

CRT works by flattening the too steep cornea of nearsightedness also called myopia. It does not work on farsightedness, which is caused by a cornea that is too flat. Vision improvement is immediate. However, like a retainer for braces, you have to continue to wear the lenses according to your doctor’s recommendation to maintain your vision correction.

Through the contact lens work of Dr. Gary Weiner, Southern Dutchess Eye Care was one of the first practices in the country to offer CRT. It is safe, reversible, and non-surgical, making it a great option for active adolescents who don’t want to fuss with glasses or lost contacts. CRT is also an excellent option for patients who have occupations that can benefit from unaided vision during the day (police officers, firefighters, cooks, pilots, etc.), or for those who are not candidates for surgical correction.
